Target Grant Award Winners

Rush Soccer is happy to share that several of its clubs received a $1000 grant from Target at the beginning of the year..

Target’s grant program has expanded to target (no pun intended) youth soccer.  They are committed to increasing access to soccer for youth across the country.  The Target youth soccer grant program provides support for player registration fees, player and field equipment, and training and professional development for volunteer coaches.  Other notable grants are the national and local giving and education grants which were also awarded to our clubs. The clubs receiving the grant include California Rush, Carolina Rush, Centennial Rush SC (Minnesota), Colorado Rush, Florida Rush, Idaho Rush, Maryland Rush, New Mexico Rush, Northern California Rush, Pennsylvania Rush, Rush Wisconsin West, Taos Rush, Virginia Rush, Wisconsin Rush, and the Thunder Program at Rush Pikes Peak.  Rush Soccer as a whole is thankful to Target for giving Rush clubs across the country the opportunity to use the grants to grow their clubs and continue to serve their members.

Target’s philosophy in awarding grants is as follows:

“Being a good neighbor is a big part of our philosophy. One of the ways we connect with the communities where we do business is through local giving. Each year, Target grants help K-12 schools and nonprofit organizations by providing support for educational field trips and funds for what they need the most.

In regard to the youth soccer grant program, the company states:

Target is committed to increasing access to soccer for youth across the country. The Target youth soccer grant program provides support for player registration fees, player and field equipment, and training and professional development for volunteer coaches.”

The guidelines to receive the grants were as follows, “As part of the program, Target will provide annual $1,000 grants on behalf of each Target store and distribution center in the U.S. to federally tax-exempt section 501(c)(3) charitable organizations, accredited schools, or public agencies located in the U.S. or one of its protectorates that have soccer programs serving youth 5 to 18 years old.”

Centennial Rush was awarded a $1000 scholarship grant.  Northern California Rush received a $1000 grant from Target for their Promise Program.  This program rewards their players that need financial assistance who commit to higher educational goals.  The Southeast Springs Soccer initiative (part of Rush Pikes Peak) is a program that deals with urban at risk youth and finding a pathway for them through the game of soccer.  In total, Target has committed $14 million to local youth soccer organization, with $6 million being funded through a partnership with the U.S. Soccer Foundation. All Rush clubs that were awarded $1000 to help their local soccer community gain more access to the sport.  Rush Soccer is honored to receive these gifts from Target as they will help each club tremendously on and off the field.
