Rush Soccer and the Inspireum Soccer Awards are looking for the countries most inspirational players. Among the semifinalists named is Sarah Schucker from New York Rush.
Two years ago, Sarah was faced with a life-changing diagnosis of Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). During the months leading up to her diagnosis, Sarah was fatigued constantly, found that she bruised easily, and was continually ill. She continued to push through the symptoms to play the sport to which she had dedicated herself. Sarah has taught others the value of persistence and overcoming adversity, and she has learned not to take things for granted. Off the field, Sarah works just as hard, having earned honor roll awards, as well as top marks in Advanced Placement classes. She volunteers for summer and after school soccer programs and has helped to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
