01.16.13 - Kekuta

In conjunction with the NSCAA Coaches convention in Indianapolis this week, the MLS and NWSL held their drafts. Rush was well represented with three players being selected.

In the 2013 MLS Superdraft, Kekuta Manneh, originally from Gambia Rush and also a brief member of both Georgia Rush and Texas Rush, was drafted Number 4 overall to the Vancouver Whitecaps.

“This boy has talent. We knew this when he was 12 years old,” states Omar Sise, Technical Director of Gambia Rush. “At age 15 he was playing with our men’s first team. When we partnered with Rush, we thought we should get him over to the states.”

Kekuta, first came to Georgia Rush where he impressed the locals immediately by lighting up the net. Within a few months, the Texas Rush had him playing in the academy.

“Kekuta developed in the Rush on three different Rush clubs and he will always be a Rush player.  We are very proud of him,” Don Gemmell, Technical Director of Texas Rush says.
