Rush Into Quarterfinals at U20 World Cup
Lindsey Horan and Janine Beckie, two players with ties to the Colorado Rush, have advanced to the quarterfinal round at the U20 Women's World Cup being held in Canada.
Horan and the United States have won back-to-back games over Brazil and China after a first game defeat to Germany. Horan has been the key figure in the Americans attack scoring three of the four US goals and assisting on the 4th. The US will take on Korea DPR in the quarterfinal game on Saturday in Toronto. Korea, by way of goal differential, finished at the top of Group A with wins over Finland and Ghana and a loss to Canada.
Janine Beckie, a member of the 2014 Colorado Rush W-League team this past summer, leads the Canadians with 2 goals scored in their three games including the game winner in the 1-0 win over Korea DPR to secure a quarterfinal birth for the Canadians. Canada has beaten Finland and Korea DPR and lost their opening game to Ghana. They will take on the Germans on Saturday in Edmonton.
A third Rush player, Emily Alvarado from Texas Rush, had been on the Mexico team roster but team Mexico failed to advance out of group so their tournament is over.
Good luck to Lindsey and Janine in the quarterfinals!
