Colorado Rush alum and current Boston Breaker Jordan Angeli has been called in to a January training camp with the US Women's National Team. Jordan and 25 others will partake in a six day training camp January 8-13 at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles as the US Women prepare for the Four Nations Tournament at the end of January.
The call up to the full national team is the first for Jordan who finished her rookie year in the WPS with 7 goals and 3 assists, good for second place on the team in scoring. Though this marks the first call up to the full national team, Jordan has experience within the US youth national team system having played at the U20 Women's World Cup in Russia in 2006.
“Jordan has been a pro for a long time (long before she signed with the Boston Breakers) and you can witness this whenever you are around her," said Colorado Rush Technical Director Erik Bushey upon hearing of Jordan's call up. He continued, "Jordan’s work ethic and professionalism have long been a valuable part of her arsenal. Among many values Jordan embodies, she exemplifies the Rush Core Value “Tenacity” as well as or perhaps better than any player we have ever helped to develop.”
US Head Coach Pia Sundhage will select 15 players during camp to join eight others for the Four Nations Tournament that will be held in China starting January 21. The Four Nations Tournament will be a good opportunity for player exposure as the National Team continues to shape its roster for the 2011 Women's World Cup in Germany June 26-July 17.
Good luck Jordan!.
