We are launching this newsletter to keep all of you apprised of what is happening here at Zakhem Law, and we must say the news is exciting!
Not only has John Zakhem recently been recognized as one of Colorado's Super Lawyers in Super Lawyers magazine, but he has also been recognized in the 2012 edition of The Best Lawyers in America and will be featured in the Premiere edition of Denver’s Best Lawyers on March 30th in the Denver Post. Both magazines are two of the preeminent peer review magazines for attorneys in the nation. Congratulations John!
We are so thankful for all of your support over the years and know that we have only grown stronger due to the excellent referrals that we receive. We owe much of our success to you, our friends, colleagues and clients for continually supporting us and referring us to their friends and family.

Corporate News
The Secretary of State's office has recently implemented a password protection system to protect businesses from business identify theft. Current business filers now have an option to add password protection to their filings by going to their business' summary page and clicking "Set Up Secure Business Filing." New businesses registering can set-up a password as part of their registration. Please contact us for more information or questions regarding password protecting your business.
As we make our way through 2012, it is important to ensure that your business has done everything necessary to stay in compliance with the law and maintain its legal status with the Secretary of State. This includes holding and documenting an annual meeting. This requirement is VERY important and requires immediate attention, especially if you did not hold an annual meeting in 2011.
In reviewing your company’s record book, also ensure that important meetings and other business that happen throughout the year are properly documented, and that a periodic report was filed with the Secretary of State in 2011 or earlier this year.
Each new year, it is also a good time to confirm that your business has adequate insurance on all of its assets, including: liability; fire and premises; auto; business interruption; crime; officer and director liability; and products liability. If any changes occurred with the business registered agent, registered agent address, or principal place of business address, you must ensure that the Secretary of State is apprised of the new information with the appropriate filing. If your business has seen substantial change in structure, operations, or revenues, now may be a great time to discuss with one of our attorneys. Please also consider that any changes to your business may have an impact on your estate
plan.
