Brasil Rush student-athletes are proof to all international student-athletes that soccer and education can go hand in hand and lead to the best of both worlds with focus, determination and tenacity.
Davi Ramos and Marcella Costa are the first male and female Brasil Rush players to have entered high school in the United States where they both study and play soccer for their respective team at Fayetteville Academy (North Carolina). Both these players have quickly become exemplary to their Brasil Rush teammates with their focus and perseverance to continue to push for their best on and off the field. After having completed her first semester at Fayetteville Academy, Marcella has already achieved Honors and been proving to be an excellent addition to the girl’s soccer team with her goals.
Davi Ramos was a crucial player in helping bring home another state title for the Fayetteville Academy Eagles in 2012. He was named The Fayetteville Observer’s Cape Fear region soccer player of the year. Here is what Davi’s coach, McCarthy, had to say about Davi and the team: "They set a good example in the classroom and in the community.''
“Ramos may have set the best example of the bunch,” McCarthy said. “When the best player on the team works harder than anyone else, that sets a good example for the rest of the team. ''Ramos was recently honored for his hard work by being named to the 2012 NSCAA High School Boys Scholar All-America Team and also to the 2012 High School Boys All-Region III. As far as McCarthy knows, he is the first Academy player to receive that recognition. As a senior, Ramos has a 4.0 GPA and has already signed with North Carolina State University.
Rush Soccer and Brasil Rush are very proud of both Marcella and Davi. They may continue to lead the way for all future Brasil Rush and other international Rush players to come.
