The Region IV Championships in Hawaii have reached the Quarterfinals but today are enjoying a nice day off before the knockout rounds begin. Rush teams have faced some tough results through the first few days of round robin play (especially wild card teams who struggled with a record of 3-21-0 between 8 teams) but 9 are still vying for a Regional Championship. The host state still has four teams playing as the U12G, U13G, U14B and U19G are still in play. Colorado Rush has the U12G and U15B, and New Mexico has the U15 and U18 boys all in the quarters.
The U19 boys from Idaho Rush are caught in a tie breaker that will force them to play a pk shootout Friday against Pateadores (CA-S) to determine which team will advance to the Semis (U19 Boys go straight from group play to semi-finals) to face Pumas Premier (CA-S).
Region III is set to kickoff their Championships in Edmonds, Oklahoma on Friday. Teams from Florida, Texas and Tennessee Rush will be in play looking to win the 3rd Region III title in as many years. The U18 Florida Rush boys won Region III last year and went on to win the National Championship, the first for Florida Rush.
Region II is also in play this upcoming weekend. Iowa, Kansas, Wisconsin and Michigan Rush-Northville will all square of with Mid-West foes June 22-26 in Des Moines, Iowa. No Rush team has ever won a Region II title, but that region has also never had 8 qualifiers so this could be the year!
Good luck to those teams starting regionals, and to those who have reached the knockout rounds!
Scores for all three regions will be updated periodically on rushsoccer.com.
