The adidas International Training Program’s Select ID Camp is well under way and Zach and Sergio are enjoying a very successful week so far. The guys hit the ground running, training with the coaches on the first day at a local facility to get to know each other and the coaches, before heading out to the Santiago Bernabeu stadium to see Real Madrid’s opening game v. Real Betis, which ended with a 2-1 win for Los Blancos.
The next couple of days have seen the guys attend the Real Madrid training complex for some intensive training with the Real Madrid staff coaches. Zach and Sergio are joined by 30 other players from across the US as well as South America and Israel. The level of soccer is very high, with many of the 97/98 US National Pool players in attendance.
Wednesday will see another training session, followed by a tour of the Bernabeu and then an evening match at Vicente Calderon Stadium, home of Atletico Madrid, to see the Spanish Super Cup – Atletico vs. Barcelona.
This will set the guys up for the final stretch of the tour which includes games against the academy teams of Rayo Vallecano and Real Madrid.
