Auxerre Nab First Champions League Win

Steven Lengil's goal in the 84th minute gave home team Auxerre a 2-1 lead over Ajax Amsterdam that they would not relinquish. The victory was the first for AJA in the UEFA Champions League first round. Standings in group G after four games have Real Madrid sitting atop the table with 10 points followed by AC Milan (5), Ajax (4) and Auxerre (3). 

The home side were on the board early when Frederic Sammaritano's right footed shot from outside the box heat Ajax keeper Maarten Stekelenburg to the top right corner.

Ajax pulled even in the 79th off a goal from Toby Alderweireld before the strike from Lengil. AJA will host AC Milan on November 23rd prior to traveling to the Bernabéu to face Real Madrid on December 8. The top two teams from each group advance to the knockout rounds
