Rush at Far West Regionals
Below are schedules and standings for Far West Regionals being held June 20-26 in Boise, Idaho.
16 teams representing 6 Rush clubs will take the field searching for the title of Far West Regional Champions and a birth to US Youth Soccer Nationals to be held in Phoenix, Arizona July 26-31.
The first evening kicked off with a Rush BBQ hosted by Idaho Rush. The well attended event was perfect to get the teams fired up for the weekend.
Highlighted games below are the 'Rush Game of the Day'. Prior to each day, you will see a brief preview of what to expect when these three teams take the field.
ID Rush U17 Boys:
Idaho’s U17 boys head into Far West Regionals after reclaiming their state title in May with a decisive 3-1 win in the final, capping a weekend in which they outscored their opponents 18-1 in four games. It was their third state title in the past four years, avenging the previous year’s loss in PKs. The team is strong down the spine, starting with goalkeeper Michael Soderlund, centerbacks Graham Reid and Luke Chouinard, midfielders Garrett Jones and Carlos Soria, and forwards Nick Davey and Kevin Fekete. Soderlund will play at Indiana University beginning in the fall, and Davey has verbally committed to Harvard, and a dozen more are expected to play collegiate soccer beginning in 2012. Idaho may not be known as a hotbed of soccer greatness, but the U17s reached the final of the Nomads Thanksgiving Tournament last November and lost by a goal in the USYS President’s Cup national championship game last summer. In order this week, the boys face Las Vegas Surf (NV), Rio Vista FC (NM), and Northern Lights SC (AK).
