08.21.11 -_bobby_burlingBobby Burling, arguably the best player to come through Rush Pikes Peak, suited up in the center of defense for San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday against the most potent strike force in MLS history.  Robbie Keane made his debut for LA Galaxy to line up alongside David Beckham and Landon Donavon that between them have over 110 International goals and a combined 250 international caps.  Todd Dunivant, 2011 Rush Hall of Fame inductee also suited up for the LA Galaxy.

Bobby was called in to action just 45 seconds into the game where he showed his pace to run down Adam Critsman forcing him to drag his shot on to the post.  But 20 minutes in, Beckham (formerly of Manchester United, AC Milan and Real Madrid) lifted a ball over Burling's CB partner, who misplayed the ball to allow Robbie Keane, (formerly of Liverpool, Spurs and Celtic) an easy finish despite the desperate efforts of Bobby to clear off the line.

The task got considerably harder when with 10 minutes to play Steven Beitashour was given a straight red for a foul on Landon Donavon.

The Galaxy went on to win 2-0 but Bobby proved that he has come a long way since scoring the winner for Rush Pikes Peak in the U19 Colorado State Cup final, to be competing with the best players in the Nation.
