NY Rush Patriots Capture Second Cup Title
Lagrangeville, NY-On Sunday, June 3 the New York Rush Patriots 95 U17 Girls team coached by Donny Lucas, won their second USYSA/ENY State Championship in 3 years by defeating Smithtown by a score of 3-1 in double overtime. The 95's had won the State title in 2010 and were finalists last year in 2011. The Rush Patriots scored first on a header by Erin Felix from a cross by Miranda Haraughty. Smithtown tied the game late in the second half. At the end of regulation play the score was tied 1-1. It was in the second overtime period when Haraughty scored the winning goal and Megan Caspare put one in on a break away for the final goal. The victory has qualified the 95's to represent Eastern New York in the USYSA Region 1 Championship from June 29-July 3 in Lancaster, PA. This is the second state title for the NY Rush Patriots Soccer Club.
