Bali Knockout PWD Bamenda by 2-1, Qualify for NW DII Semis
For almost 40 years, PWD Bamenda has been the most popular soccer team in anglophone Cameroon. The 'Abakwa Boys', as they are popularly known, have produced some of the best players in former West Cameroon. These include Nji Sunday, Nchang Maurice, Joseph Agwa, Ben Bola, boston based Ngo Frankline, Wasso Louis, Kemento alias Kem to Kem, Moliki Fidelis Sakwe, Simo Augustine, wonderboy Ndiefi Pius, Maranga, Sam Mangwana, etc, etc.
That history was shattered today at the Mankon Municipal Stadium in Bamenda.
Two-year old Rush FC Bali that replaced the defunct Bali United FC as the only DII team in Bali subdivision dominated the Abakwa Boys today in Bamenda and after 120 minutes of play, PWD Bamenda fell to Rush FC Bali by 1-2. The match was counting for the 1/4 knockout stage of the ongong NW DII football championship in Cameroon. The champion will represent the NW Region in this year's interpools football competition for promotion to the professional MTN Elite II football tournament in Cameroon.
At the end of the regular season, Rush FC Bali emerged as the overall best team in this year's NW DII football tournament with 30 points.
Rush FC Bali is a selection of poor but very talented footballers in and around Bali Nyonga. The club and its radio, Rush FM Bali use soccer to fight poverty and diseases in Bali Nyonga.
In an earlier encounter, Rainbow FC of Bamenda eliminated Bamenda based Bamenda FC by 2-1.
