09.22.12 - U17s tie 0-0The 2012 U17 World Cup saw the Americans open with a 0-0 draw against France in Azerbaijan earlier today.

Gabbi Miranda (CO Rush) was the lone Rush player to start on the day but Lizzy Raben would make U17 World Cup history when she was brought on in the 13th minute of the game for an injured Mandy Freeman. The 13th minute entry is the fastest in U17 World Cup history overtaking a 19th minute substitution by Brazil in 2008.

The US will take on Gambia in their next match. The Gambians, making their first appearance on the U17 women's stage dropped their opening game to Group B leaders Korea DPR 11-0.
