On a recent family vacation, Brenna (U11 VA Rush Academy Black) and her family ran into some players from their favorite English Premier team, Tottanham Hotspurs.
Below is an account of the chance meeting of some of the worlds top stars:
A much-anticipated family vacation to see two powerhouses of English football playing relatively close to home turns into a meeting of a family’s favorite team and players. After dropping the family off at the front of the Waterside Marriott in Baltimore, I parked the van in the hotel garage. When I got to the room, my entire family began excitedly telling me that Tottenham FC, our favorite team, was staying at the same hotel. So we did what any football-crazy family would do, we stalked the lobby. The first player we saw was veteran American goalkeeper, Brad Friedel, who was very gracious and gave my daughter, Brenna, an autograph. A little later, my wife and son pointed out Gareth Bale, one of our all-time favorite players, hurrying across the lobby. We asked if we could possibly get a picture and even though he was in a hurry he said ok and the request was granted. It was truly a fantastic family vacation.
Tottenham are off to a slower start in the Premier League with a 1-2-1 (W-D-L) record through four games.
