A Sunny REACH Day in Colorado
Colorado Rush recently celebrated REACH Day with a grand festival!
First event of the day: The Rush Cup. Organized for younger players of the club, the tournament went from the early morning up till noon. Under the watchful and caring eye of Director of Coaching Youth Girls Russell Finch, the young soccer players were able to gauge their level through small opposition.
After some time to refresh and eat some excellent cheeseburgers, all in attendance gathered round to watch thousands of golf balls drop from a helicopter, with for the winner earning a whopping $2,000! The money raised will be used for several programs such as REACH, Thunder, and more.
The helicopter just leaving, it was time for the competitive side of the club take the field for a 4v4 tournament. Gathered around the core values of Rush Soccer, teams grouped by level, clashed on small-sided fields to determine a grand champion!
During all this time, the Rush Silent Auction was taking place. Teams from within the club put together some excellent auction baskets to be bid on by the Rush membership. But from the opening whistle of the Rush Cup to the champions being crowned after the 4v4, the collection of gear for the REACH program was taking place throughout the complex. Boxes for collecting sports gear (balls, cleats, uniforms and more) were filled very quickly. The Colorado Rush REACH ambassadors will sort the gear and prepare it to be sent to disadvantaged regions around the world.
Thank you to all for your donations and a great day!
