Rush Receives State Department Grant for Rush Exchange Program
Rush Soccer is pleased to announce that we have been selected to receive a grant from the US State Department’s Sports United office for the implementation of the “RushConnect” Program.
Rush Soccer and Rush Football Cub Bali in Cameroon will jointly implement the program, which seeks to promote cultural understanding between citizens of the United States and Cameroon by training youth soccer coaches to organize and manage youth soccer activities that support player success in soccer and in life. Staff and coaches from Rush Soccer and Rush FC Bali will work in close partnership to share expertise and identify best practices in club development that give Bali Nyonga youth of all backgrounds a positive and empowering soccer experience.
Key activities of the program will include: 1) a visit to the US by four Rush FC Bali coaches (two women and two men) to attend the Rush Summit and receive comprehensive coaches’ training; 2) travel to the US by another four staff from Cameroon in July of 2012 to participate in the planning and delivery of the Rush Festival; and 3) a Rush staff trip to Cameroon to collaboratively implement an African Rush Festival for up to 240 youth.
The program is slated to be launched in October of 2011. Please visit the site regularly for updates and news about RushConnect. For more information on the SportsUnited Office of the State Department go to http://exchanges.state.gov/sports/index.html.
