2012 Rush Summit A Big Success
Rush leaders from across the country and across the world converged on Raleigh, North Carolina this past weekend for several days of meetings, lectures, group sessions and on field activities at the 2012 Rush Summit. Technical Directors, Club Presidents, Directors of Coaching and club administrators from all domestic clubs (save Phoenix who had a late sickness) in addition to several coaches from Rush FC Bali in Cameroon, Africa as well as the Technical Director from Senegal Rush attended the annual event. The three day event is designed to address current issues that Rush clubs are facing in their respective states and offering guidance and advice to help clubs become the best in their states/regions.
The Rush group met on day one at the main shipping and distribution center for Eurosport, Rush Soccer's apparel distributor and long time National Sponsor. Our hosts led the group through a tour of their facilities and it truly is a sight to see. Millions of pieces of soccer equipment pass through the center each month and the facilities Eurosport have to deal with such quantities are quite impressive.
Day two consisted of lectures from several Rush Technical Directors along with a great presentation from Sports Psychologist Greg Dale from nearby Duke University. Eurosport and Nike were in attendance on day two as well to show off the 2012 Nike Boy's uniforms to the Summit attendees (kits will be unveiled to the public soon!) The night ended with Eurosport treating the group to a wonderful dinner at a restaurant in Chapel Hill near the Campus for The University of North Carolina.
Day three saw rain and clouds but that did not stop the attendees, fresh off two days of sitting in lectures, from getting out onto the field for on-field coaching sessions led by Rush Soccer President Tim Schulz and Colorado Rush Technical Director Erik Bushey. After the sessions, the coaches strapped on their boots for some fun and a small sided tournament. Despite the sloppy field conditions, some entertaining soccer took place before a thrilling shootout final won by the Alaska/Maryland/New Jersey/Virginia Rush team (pictured at right).
The Rush Soccer staff would like to thank all of our partners for taking the time to come to this important event. The Rush is truly a great club because of the dedicated staff that we have at our partners across the country. Keep up the good work and Go Rush!
