New York (December 16, 2020) –
Rush Soccer’s most elite players from across the world will form Rush Select teams that will attend the Weston Cup in Naples, Fla., for the first time. The Weston Cup is held over the four-day President’s Day Weekend on February 12-15, 2021.

Rush Select is an international program that establishes Rush Soccer "all star teams" composed of the top Rush players from the more than 60 Rush clubs represented on six continents. The program begins for players in the Under-13 age group and features teams through the Under-19 level. These teams are invited to attend various events, both domestically and internationally on a yearly basis. The players are exposed to new ideas while competing against top talent and learning from new coaches to develop as a player in an elite and exclusive environment. The program aims to offer Rush’s top players a unique learning experience to help them develop as both a player and a person.

“We’re always excited to team our best players together to compete,” said Rush Select director Justin Miller. “This year will pose a new experience for our players as we head to one of the top showcases in Florida, the Weston Cup. One of the benefits of the Select experience is having all of our teams and coaches at the same location. Naples will allow us to do this while playing against top competition. We’re excited to give this opportunity to our players.”

Rush’s Soccer’s National College Advisory Program (CAP) director will work with Rush Select and the Weston Cup to introduce as many university and college coaches as possible to the event.

“The idea of a showcase is to play the best competition in front of as many college coaches as possible,” Rush Soccer CAP director Josh Tyler said. “We will work with the directors of the Weston Cup to deliver a high quality experience for each college coach to ensure they are seeing as many high level players as possible.”

The Rush Select program has produced several Rush Soccer alumni currently featuring at the professional level like Lindsey Horan (USWNT, Portland Thorns, Colorado Rush), Cole Bassett (USMNT, Colorado Rapids, Colorado Rush), Shandon Hopeau (Seattle Sounders, Hawai’i Rush), and Paolo Del Piccolo (Louisville City FC, Colorado Rush).
