In the True Spirit of Rush six U-19 Colorado Rush girls (Morgan Stanton, Gabi Miranda, Lizzie Raben, Danica Evans, Sydney Otto and Tommie Goodman) traveled to New Mexico this weekend to join in with the U-19 girls from New Mexico Rush (Victoria Barba, Jovana Canales, Brooke Eastburge, Ruth Bruciaga, Ellae Montoya, Adrianna Naranjo, and Breanna Atencio) to play in State Cup. Several of these girls from both states have played with each other in the past either in Rush Select at U13 winning "Champions Cup" in Florida or playing with the Colorado Rush ECNL team. Coach Pancho Macias from New Mexico was very proud of their accomplishments stating "I have been very fortunate to coach some of these players since they were 13. We as a club joined Rush 10 years ago and are happy to be able to win this State Championship with the support of Colorado Rush and Erik Bushey."
Only being able train for about an hour and a half the day before the game, on Sunday the girls took the pitch and arose to the occasion. The combined team of New Mexico Rush and Colorado Rush players won 2-0 and have advanced to Regionals June 16-22 in Albuquerque, NM. Rush President Tim Schultz quoted after hearing about the win "I am elated when I see the Rush join forces with other states to create these select teams. Some of these players have known each other for several years." It was smiles all around for the girls! Please join us in congratulating them all on a job well done and for showing the true spirit of Rush.
